The design direction for Sean John’s Fall 2010 collection is themed “The Rivalry”. This story begins much the same as all great conflicts throughout history: two opposing forces that wage war for glory and respect on and off the “field” of battle. Pop star Michael Jackson’s death was caused by lethal levels of the powerful anesthetic propofol, according to findings by the Los Angeles chief medical examiner unsealed in court documents in Houston on Monday.

Jackson suffered cardiac arrest and died on June 25 at age 50. Since then, police have probed his death in an investigation that appears focused on the use of prescription drugs and the role of doctors who treated him, including his personal doctor, Conrad Murray.

“The Los Angeles Chief Medical Examiner-Coroner, Dr. Sathyavagiswaran, indicated that he had reviewed the preliminary toxicology results and his preliminary assessment of Jackson’s cause of death was due to lethal levels of propofol (diprivan),” according to a search warrant affidavit for Murray issued by California.

The document was released by the Harris County District Clerk in Houston, where Murray has offices, which U.S. Agents raided on July 22, looking for evidence of manslaughter.

MADOFF

US prison authorities on Monday denied media reports that convicted Wall Street fraud Bernard Madoff is dying of cancer.

“We can tell you that Bernie Madoff is not terminally ill and has not been diagnosed with cancer,” the Prisons Bureau said in an emailed statement.

Earlier, the New York Post and Wall Street Journal quoted separate, unidentified sources saying that Madoff, 71, is in the terminal stages of the disease.

The Prisons Bureau said the Post article was “full of inaccuracies.”

Madoff is serving a 150-year sentence in a North Carolina prison for a multi-billion dollar investment fraud that cheated thousands of people and institutions, including celebrities, charities and leading banks, over several decades.

The Post quoted another inmate saying Madoff’s “been taking about 20 pills a day for his cancer.”

“He talks about it all the time. He’s not doing very well,” the unnamed inmate was quoted as saying.

The Journal reported on its news blog that “sources familiar with the situation” confirmed Madoff was dying, but that it was unclear what kind of cancer he had.

Michael Jackson

The Los Angeles County coroner has ruled Michael Jackson’s death a homicide, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press, a finding that makes it more likely criminal charges will be filed against the doctor who was with the pop star when he died.

The coroner determined a fatal combination of drugs was given to Jackson hours before he died June 25 in his rented Los Angeles mansion, according to the official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings have not been publicly released. Forensic tests found the powerful anesthetic propofol acted together with at least two sedatives to cause Jackson’s death, the official said.

Dr. Conrad Murray, a Las Vegas cardiologist who became Jackson’s personal physician weeks before his death, is the target of a manslaughter investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. According to a search warrant affidavit unsealed Monday in Houston, Murray told investigators he administered a 25 mg dose of propofol around 10:40 a.m. after spending the night injecting Jackson with two sedatives in an unsuccessful attempt to get him to sleep.

The warrant, dated July 23, states that lethal levels of propofol were found in Jackson’s system. Besides the propofol and two sedatives, the coroner’s toxicology report found other substances in Jackson’s system but they were not believed to have been a factor in the singer’s death, the official said.

Murray has spoken to police and last week released a video saying he “told the truth and I have faith the truth will prevail.” His attorney, Edward Chernoff, had no immediate comment but has previously said Murray never administered anything that “should have” killed Jackson.

A call to the coroner’s office was not returned Monday.

Murray did not say anything about the drugs he gave to Jackson

NEW YORK — Swizz Beatz has a thing for millions. He produced and is featured on Maino’s “Million Bucks,” and now the superproducer has given Whitney Houston a beat for the song “Million Dollar Bill.”
Swizz and the song’s writer, Alicia Keys, were in the Allen Room in Manhattan’s Lincoln Center on Tuesday night (July 21) at a listening event for Houston’s first studio LP in six years, I Look to You, along with L.A. Reid, Martha Stewart, Diane Sawyer and others.

Clive Davis presented the album and told a story of how Keys asked him personally to write for the album. Right from the start, “Million Dollar Bill” displays Houston’s billion-dollar voice over a club-friendly Swizz track that blends a rough-riding thump with R&B. Keys got up and danced while taking video with her personal camera as the words she wrote boomed through the speakers.

Houston sings of looking for love and finding a man with potential. “If he makes you feel like a million-dollar bill, say, ‘Oh, oh/ Oh, oh,’ ” she sings on the hook. “It’s been a long time since love has come my way. I’ve been looking and searching for a man to touch this place.”

Later, Whitney commands people to dance if they’re experiencing good love right now. “Throw one hand in the air/ Left, right, up, down/ Got you spinning all around, say, ‘Oh, oh/ Oh, oh.’ ” The audience gave the record a rousing round of applause when it was done.

“Million Dollar Bill” was the first of nine songs Davis played from the album, one of which is a cover of Leon Russell’s “A Song for You.” The beat was remixed with a dance/club vibe, inspiring the people in the audience to stand up and dance and clap. Houston walked out, dancing and clapping as the record played.

R. Kelly wrote and produced a record called “Salute.” The Pied Piper also wrote the title track, which is produced by Tricky Stewart and Harvey Mason Jr. The power ballad “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” was written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster.

R&B singer Chris Brown issued his first full public apology on Monday for assaulting his then girlfriend Rihanna, describing his loss of control as “unacceptable, 100 percent” and asking for forgiveness from his fans. Brown, 20, said in a two-minute video statement that he had wanted to speak out earlier but had been advised against it by his lawyers. The singer of hits “Run It” and “Kiss Kiss” pleaded guilty last month to punching Rihanna in Los Angeles on the eve of the Grammy Awards in February. He is expected to be sentenced to five years’ probation in August.

“I have told Rihanna countless times and I am telling you today that I am truly, truly sorry that I wasn’t able to handle the situation differently and better,” Brown said in the video statement, made available to celebrity website TMZ.com. Brown’s attack on Rihanna, 21, left the “Umbrella” singer’s face bloodied and bruised. The viciousness of the assault stunned both his fans and the music industry, where he had previously been seen as a role model, and it prompted heated debates on domestic violence involving young men and women.

Brown said he had done a lot of soul-searching since the incident, knew he had let down his fans, and was seeking help to ensure that he never repeated such behavior.

“I am very sad and very ashamed of what I’ve done,” he said “As many of you know, I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence and I saw personally what uncontrolled rage could do.”What I did was unacceptable, 100 percent … I hope that others learn from my mistakes. I intend to live my life so that I am truly worthy of the term ‘role model’,” he added. A week after the incident, Brown issued a statement saying he was sorry and saddened over “what transpired” but did not acknowledge having beaten Rihanna, whom he had been dating for about a year. They split up after the fight.
Brown is due to be formally sentenced on August 5 after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors in June that avoided a trial and a possible four-year prison sentence.

On an episode of “The View” that aired earlier this week, rapper Kanye West revealed that he and Lady Gaga will co-headline a tour that will begin in the fall.

Kanye West will hit the road with Lady Gaga. Instead of Lady Gaga performing as an opening act, the two will both serve as the tour’s headlining artists.

“She’s talented and so incredible that she’s not an opening act,” Kanye explained on the ABC talk show. “We’re doing it together, with no opening act.”

While details for the upcoming tour are still sketchy, Kanye promises that, “With two creative minds like ours, it will be incredible.”

With only one album under her belt, Lady Gaga has made quite an imprint in pop music with her edgy fashion and glam rock sound.

“I’m into her style,” Kanye told Men.Style.com after the tour announcement. “It’s hot right now. I mean, I’m a guy — so obviously I’m into her.” West’s Glow In The Dark Tour, his most recent, featured opening acts Rihanna, Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D. and Gnarls Barkley.

No stranger to hip hop, Lady Gaga is featured on the song “Chillin” with rapper Wale and her hit song, “Poker Face” is being reworked into a song entitled, “Make Her Say” by rappers West and Kid Cudi.

nas & kelis

According to celebrity gossip site TMZ.com, rapper Nas and soon-to-be ex-wife Kelis are continuing to air out their grievances in divorce court this week.

The Nas and Kelis situation continues to get worse. TMZ reports that Nas is claiming that Kelis has received more money from the rapper than she claims and that he makes far less than she thinks.

Kelis states that Nas made $11 million with his last album deal, but Nas has revealed that he “…did not receive even half that amount.” According to Nas, he only made $4 million from the deal and that he currently maintains a monthly income of a little under $150,000.

Kelis says that Nas has not given any of that money to her or their unborn child since the couple separated.

Nas alleges that he has agreed to pay $350 for a stroller, $450 for a baby sling and $1,598 for two cribs. He has also agreed to pay at least $5,000 a month in child support for now.

In April of this year, the entertainment world was shocked to hear that the musical power couple had filed for divorce. Ironically, news of the couple’s divorce came shortly after it was revealed that Nas and Kelis were expecting their first child. The couple will be seeking joint custody of their child
